Pricy martinis, frozen drinks, lemonades and even more Martinis (cantaloupe, apple, peach) are the move at this poolside bar. There is a nice wine list, too, both by the glass and bottles. Junior Westside advertising executives have been hitting up this Randee Gerber bar for years; flirting with agents in the dark and sexy lounge that also serves food. Comfy couches and chairs await hotel guests and Westwood scenesters alike, and although the bar has seen busier days, there is always a crowd here on weekends.
Check the elaborate lighting and design here, and check your clothes; shoes are required, pool party fans who hit up the Backyard at the W. Watch out for GQ types and leggy models fresh from a trans-Atlantic flight. A good place to pretend you're rich and famous, or to meet a sexy European. The decadent hybrid of restaurant, bar and night scene is somewhat unusual for this neck of the woods.
Hint: Valet can be expensive, so arrive early here and try to find a metered street spot.
