First impressions: Medusa Lounge (Metromix)

The historic Lowenbrau Keller--with its elaborate tapestry of Bavarian decor--has been transformed into an Asian-fusion lounge seemingly overnight. The change was made possible by the new owner's respect for the incredibly bizarre and alluring design choices made by the German set decorator who built the place. The result of this unlikely culture clash is delightful in the sheer enormity of its bizarreness. Sushi and sashimi are on the menu along with bratwurst, duck breast and steak.
Medusa has already made a name for itself in the nightlife scene, as DJs play nightly (Thursdays are hot this summer) and the space already lends itself well to the after 10 p.m. set.
