A feasting frenzy

Know something we don't?
Behind Jar’s characteristic brick wall waits a dining room designed for comfort—both for the palate and for your dining body. It’s the little touches that delight: generous chocolate brown dining chairs that roll on casters, bar stools that swivel, and twists on American comfort food like crab deviled eggs. Much ink has been spilled over the consistent pleasures of Suzanne Tract’s signature modern chophouse dishes, like the pot roast, Brobdingnagian bone-in pork loin, and Kansas City steak, as well as retro desserts like the banana cream pie. It’s a neighborhood-driven place, but the spectacular Sunday brunch (sticky buns and pot roast hash, anyone?) and special occasion meals on holidays draw crowds from all over the city. On this culinary corridor of Beverly, Jar holds its own among the likes of Grace, Hatfield’s, Pastis, and Mimosa.
TIPS: Mozzarella Mondays features different dishes incorporating this Italian cheese every week. It’s first-come, first-served at the bar and side dining room.

The menu is somewhat limited if you are a vegetarian, but the sides are fantastic. The pea tendrils and japanese yams are particluarly unusual and great. The salmon is ok, nothing special. A meat eater in the party loved the pot roast.
