Know something we don't?
Former SBE heavyweight Reza Roohi's well-designed Villa Lounge debuted in December near (appropriately enough) the Pacific Design Center with a new concept -- fleshed out by New York-based icrave design. A heavy black leather and paisly-studded door is the first sign that you've arrived someplace special. Once inside, all eyes turn toward the dark, sexy bar's centerpiece: a 30-foot-high ceiling accented by several ropes arranged to look like a chandelier. Upstairs, multiple VIP-esque areas (althrough strictly speaking the entire bar is a VIP area) await high rollers who like bottle service, as do good sight lines to the bar's bizzare twin design elements that sit above the bar: a NASA spacesuit-wearing "moon man" and a stuffed peacock. Overall, the house-in-the-hills with a library vibe is similar to what this space used to be (Monroe's) and is just as difficult to get into: so dress to impress. Drinks are expensive, but the opulent décor makes the prices a little easier to swallow.
