Know something we don't?
Head Chef Greg Kurtz brings Watermark to a formerly old-school Ventura, and with it, a new, upscale bar scene and dining experience. Built in 1928, this historic brick building (restored at great expense by co-owners Mark Hartley and Jim Rice) combines Spanish Colonial and art-deco influences with modern design twists.
The modern elements are most readily visible inside Watermark's 3rd floor bar, W20, which boats a retracable roof, gas firepits and streamlined metalwork. Inside the ground floor restaurant, guest will be dazzled by hand-stenciled ceilings, wood paneling and murals painted by various artists.
Expect the occasional celebrity (yes, we know it's Ventura, but still, trust us) to hit Watermark (Kevin Costner attended the soft launch), as one of the owners represents some of the biggest names in country music as a manager.

I love the third floor bar, but dinner was a massively expensive disappointment. Every dish that the four of us had (12 total) was bland and indifferent. The "Watermark" Sarah, at $14 a glass, was undrinkable, and the French Press coffee was bitter. Service was adequate, when the looked up...
I've been to the Watermark for both dinner and the Sunday brunch. Both were excellent!!! I wait to write reviews so as to have a few occasions to judge the place so here goes...The service is great...not pretentious at all..but not overly chummy. I can't stand places that have staff...
My wife and I recently had dinner here. It is very nice, the service was good, servers were polite. Although pricey I felt it was worth it. We plan to return to the wine loft and Rooftop Lounge soon. I am also Mexican/American. I had NO trouble with the service....
Disappointing. Overpriced and service that is sub-par. Staff are a bunch of twenty somethings that act as if they have matters more pressing to attend and that the customer presents a nuisance. OK if your at the pizza parlor next door, but not OK if you are paying premium prices....
Forget going to the watermark if your're mexican or black. The head bartender and the owner will be more than happy to let you know that you are not welcome. The red and white (look it up in wiki) has stepped it up a notch in Ventura. So sad.
Well, Watermark is worthy of the hype! I took my parents, down from Santa Barbara, to Watermark for what I hoped would be an impressive dinner. They did not disappoint. From the cocktails and appetizers (prawns with roasted garlic and chili, and ahi tartare) to the wine list (lengthy and...
OK food and serivce but no bang for the buck. Watermark is a wanna be LA Scene. Watermark ambiance is weak and dress code seems ridiculous - The Watermark is trying too hard to be a exclusive restaurnat - all show and no go.
