Know something we don't?
W20 is the rooftop bar atop Watermark restaurant. Built in 1928, this historic brick building (restored at great expense by co-owners Mark Hartley and Jim Rice) combines Spanish Colonial and art-deco influences with modern design twists.
The modern elements are most readily visible inside Watermark's rooftop bar, W20, which boats a retracable roof, gas firepits, ocean views and streamlined metalwork. Blue hues are everywhere, and the scene is more laid back and social than the ground floor restaurant below, which is elegant and sophisticated.
Patrons access the bar via an elevator and W20 boasts several design elements that are just as striking as those downstairs in the restaurant (we like the jellyfish-like "chandelier").
Expect the occasional celebrity (yes, we know it's Ventura, but still, trust us) to hit Watermark (Kevin Costner attended the soft launch), as one of the owners represents some of the biggest names in country music as a manager.
W20 is certainly the most sophisticated date spot in Ventura, and perhaps even worth a pit stop on your way up the coast next time you are heading north on the 101.
Parking in Ventura is free and easy, but Watermark has (we think) the first valet stand in town for those who don't want to walk up to the bar.
