Depending on when you go, Nikki’s Local 72 can be a radically different bar. On weekend afternoons, it’s a sports bar with each of its six plasma screens tuned to a different game. On weekday evenings, a local crowd enjoys Nikki’s excellent happy hour (half-price appetizers, half-price drinks). Late at night, though, Nikki’s can hold its own with any club in Hollywood. It even has the requisite brawny doorman and velvet rope. Thursday nights are probably best since Nikki’s offers free glasses of Veuve Clicquot Rose to the ladies from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. After many changes, the menu finally seems settled; still not an ideal place to get dinner, Nikki’s does offer a substantial appetizer menu with numerous varieties of sliders (beef, tuna, turkey) topping the list. Street parking and a paid lot are available nearby.
