If you live near Venice, chances are you already know this bar as the Red Garter. But in late 2007, new owners gave the dark nightspot a new name (The Garter) and a sexy makeover, adding textured red-flock wallpaper, black chandeliers -- even purple faux-suede walls in the bathrooms. On any given night, you are likely to see co-owner Shawn Hardi behind the bar (she's the red-head, naturally). The Garter is fun and friendly -- a great place to spend a cold winter's night. Check out the a swank flat-panel TV smartly built into the back wall, where you'll find locals playing the Nintendo Wii. Up front, there's a smoking patio.

had a wonderful time at this place. The atmosphere was cool as well as the people. I like the bartenders as they don't give you any attitudes and the drinks aren"t that expensive and there's no cover charge. The bouncers were cool to me and my friends and they greet...
I had never been to the Garter, but it was sexy! Fire place, burlesque kinda feel, pool tables. The live band was hot. Nice to have a locals Venice art funk vibed place to hit up on a Tuesday. I recommend it for the chillness and booty shakin! ;-)
