Know something we don't?
Craig Trager, the man behind such Hollywood mainstays such as the Woods and The Well, is back with yet another bar in a strip mall. El Bar is his homage to all things Mexican, with a Spanish twist. Think dim lights, framed pictures of Matadors on the wall and even an honest-to-god Bull's head behind the bar (from an El Paso-based taxidermist).
A massive gold banquette lines an entire side of the bar here, allowing for social interaction. Exposed brick, with strategically placed candles placed inside, lies above the seating options (a long bar is also sure to be hot with singles this winter).
The bar is very small, so don't even think about meeting friends here after 11:30 p.m. on a Friday night, unless you want to wait in line, that is. But for those seeking a cozy date spot for a weeknight along the lines of El Carmen, El Bar might be your new favorite spot (check the jukebox, which has everything from the Clash to Los Lonely Boys).
Try the "Latin Lover" if you are thirsting something differnt (it's El Bar's signature drink featuring passion fruit vodka, Patron citronge, sour mix and a splash of cranberry juice). Or, for those on a budget, you can always simply order up a 24-ounce Modello in a can for a measly $4.
Did you know? You can share lists of your favorite places and events. Include El Bar in your list and it will be added to this page.
