What would old town Torrance, the original commercial core of the City, be without The Crest?  The friendly dive has been packing them in since it bowed in the 1970s, and used to be known as one of the biggest dart bars in the country.  All the big dart throwing pros used to shoot there in the 1980s and the Crest’s owner, William Fitzgerald, actually wrote a book about the art of throwing darts in a bar.  These days, the Crest is more about shooting pool and, of course, drinking.  Early in the week, you are likely to find some karaoke action at the Crest, while Thursday-Sunday provides live music (usually blues bands or cover bands).   For a dive bar, the staff at the Crest is friendly enough—and you can’t beat the $2.25 Budweiser’s.  Food inside the dark bar runs the gamut from your standard cheeseburger & fries to surprisingly good teriyaki chicken with rice.
