Along with their famous pies, Du-Par’s serves up a slice of diner nostalgia. While the location in the Farmer’s Market (opened in 1938) has been renovated and restyled, the Studio City location remains authentically retro. Waitresses sport white uniform dresses with gingham detail. Green floral carpet clashes deliciously with the fuschia and carrot vinyl booths. The rainbow of pies includes classics like rhubarb and custard, which share room in the display case with fresh donuts and Danishes. Their acclaimed pancakes and French toast can be had at any hour of the day. Traditional comfort food favorites like roast turkey and meatloaf are mainstays, but the diner moves into the 21st century with low-carb platters of skinless chicken breast and halibut steak.
