You’ll need a full tank to make it through any of the extravagant theme nights at gay-friendly Club Fuel. The cavernous bar and dance club hosts high-energy themed promotions appealing to a rainbow of gay subcultures. There’s Club Nur on Thursdays, billed as L.A.’s first and only gay Middle Eastern club. Club Meneo every second Saturday has Latin overtones. Commando night on alternate Saturdays is not what you think (it attracts those in military uniform, not in their birthday suits). Sunday’s “Madonnarama” drag show brings out fabulous men of every stripe. It’s fitting that the club’s signature drink is the Absolut-ely Fabulous, a mixture of Absolut vodkas, fruit juices, and a splash of soda.

Can it be true...dark, shuttered, abandoned? A bit of history here. Opened in 1979 and I was a regular until around 1985. Those were the days...will it ever...
The staff is extra friendly, the drinks are reasonable, and the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. The bar is an old school gay bar thats been updated...
