About

A bar for all seasons -- where you won't feel glamorous, but you might feel at home. Since 1962.

Popular Drinks: The tiny, leather-bound drink menus on the tables have Rolling Rock listed under "Local Favorites." At $2.75 a piece bottled domestics are the way to go (no draft beer available).

Unique Drinks: The same menu speaks of something called the Silver Margarita.

Food: No food on site but they do have menus for some of the local take-outs. They also offer free popcorn.

Seating: Ample bar stools populated with decrepit locals. Curving along one wall is comfy leather lounge seating with small tables and those very retro egg-shaped black leather chairs with wheels. There is also a nice little fire pit to sit around.

Ambience: Nestled in one of the Valley's many strip malls, this gem of a bar is as comfortable as it is versatile. With cheap drinks and free popcorn, the Sweep dwells in some strange nether region between hipster lounge and that lonely place where old alcoholics go to die face-down in their sidecars. The floor is carpeted in the English pub style and the walls are ensconced in wood paneling that complements the faux rooftop crowning the bar. The seating is of the retro swankalicious lounge variety, and the fire pit acting as the barroom's centerpiece hearkens to your typical ski lodge in the sticks. Decorations include beer signs, oil paintings of cartoonish young chimney sweeps and bowling trophies, which, if nothing else, draw attention to the rec room opposite the bar with its electronic dartboard and closeted pool table. Though it can be a decent place to meet people, the locale and untantalizing facade keep the crowds away.

Extras/Notes: At $2.75 a beer it's always happy hour. The after-work crowd is generally 40 and older. Electronic Darts, TV, trivia, Golden Tee and a small pool table in a tiny box of a room that requires you to use a little sawed-off cue for half of your shots. Solid jukebox. Open since 1962, and it looks it.

Parking: Free lot (strip mall). There is a sign in the bar that says "Ask bartender permission if leaving car in lot overnight" as apparently they tow in the morning.
