About
It seems fitting that mid-range Asian fusion restaurant Wokcano should supplant upscale Asian fusion restaurant Akwa. With its palate-pleasing blend of Korean-style barbecued short ribs, Thai noodles, Japanese sushi and sashimi, and Chinese rice dishes, Wokcano offers plenty of variety. And it's open until 2 a.m. daily.
Happy hour is from 3 to 7 p.m. daily and includes offerings like California rolls, shrimp tempura rolls, chicken dumplings and more. For a few more bucks, you can snag some crispy garlic chicken wings ($6.50) or even some crispy pepper calamari.
The same happy hour specials (which inclues two-for-one draft beers) takes place nightly on weekends from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. Wednesdays are "ladies night" (half-price Martinis, gals) and live jazz is coming soon on Thursdays.
DJs take over this particular location on weekends, so expect a lively club-like scene here later at night on Fridays and Saturdays, especially.
“We’re really looking forward to expanding the Wokcano brand to the Santa Monica community and helping to fill the void for a late-night hot spot,” Wokcano general manager Jill Hess said in a press release touting the grand opening in early August of 2008.
