A modern architectural feat suspended precariously above Moomat Ahiko Way for a splendid view of the Santa Monica Pier and Bay, the Lobster is a sunny, well-appointed seafood restaurant and bar that balances high prices with friendly service. The kitchen serves citrus chicken and cuts of beef such as New York strip steak and Kobe sirloin ($29 at both lunch and dinner), but ordering such fare would be downright insane with so many seafood options: Four different lobster entrees from $36 to $59; five different fish dinners, including halibut, sole and salmon from $17 to $27; and an array of starter options with clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp cocktails and four kinds of oysters. Fans of “The Simpsons” may consider this place “the Burns omni-net” of seafood. Judging from the extensive wine list, the epicurean options don’t end at the beach.
