House specialties revolve around Lake Como, the big blue body of water near Italy’s northern border with Switzerland. From these shores come a plethora of seafood recipes and a lighter approach to entrees, such as rainbow trout fillets marinated in lemon, caper and parsley. Connoisseurs note that for years Lago’s been racking up Wine Spectator’s awards of excellence. Also on offer, weekly four- or five-course prix fixe tasting menus crafted with farmers market ingredients and paired with wines by Lago’s Milanese chef. Each weekend’s brunch serves up a unique frittata, á la free-range eggs. Ample patio seating, but inside features a languid, old-world, terra cotta tinted ambience among the Promenade’s bustle.
