F. Scott Fitzgerald probably wishes he hadn’t drunk himself to death so he could still be sipping mint juleps on the Georgian’s well-mannered veranda. Built in 1931, this genteel art deco masterpiece got itself listed on the national registry of historic places. Hotel guests can get dinners delivered courtesy of next door’s Ocean Ave Seafood, but if you don’t get a room, only breakfast, lunch and weekend brunches are available. The evolving menus represent classic Californian twists on classic American fare, with the added decadence of Santa Monica resort culture—take your typical brunch items such as the rich and cake-y French toast soufflé and the Bennie Ranchero, which crosses eggs benedict with Mexico. Feel free to show up early or late—in keeping with life in a more civilized era, seats are routinely readily available.
