There are many reasons to fear this raw/organic/vegan/low-glycemic café and market, but few turn out to be valid. Sure, it can be a little disconcerting at first to find your mushroom burger is, in fact, nothing but a big pile of ‘shrooms, but those little fungi are tasty. And maybe there’s green spirulina dribbled on your chocolate cheesecake, but it’s a grassy sweetness that leaves you licking your lips (and fork). Despite the overtly eco-conscious and persistently positive approach, the atmosphere inside is neither overly preachy nor excessively crunchy. But when planning a visit, be aware that every other Thursday night is open mic—where you could end up with one of Bob Marley’s original Wailers, or you could get a 12-year-old playing her first keyboard composition.
