A clean, casually elegant and exceedingly well-lit spot—with two of the four walls actually floor to ceiling windows—Café Montana serves up fine food in a pleasing environment. Surveying the pasta portion of the menu, one might come away believing that it’s an Italian restaurant, but the rest of the gustatory fare betrays a democratic mix of California, East Coast, European and pan-Asian cuisine. Consider the Lithuanian meat dumpling appetizer for $9.95 to $12.95, the Cobb salad for $15.95, the blackened prime rib for $19.95, or the Kobe beef burger for $15.95. As well known as it is for lunch and dinner fare, Café Montana prides itself on its weekend brunch menu, where $12.50 huevos rancheros share space with $9.95 silver dollar pancakes and the $11.95 lox scramble.
