It’s as Irish as it sounds, and then some—cider on tap, Irish accents imported to work the bar and Celtic designs painted on the wall. Heavy food is served to mix with heavy drinking, though weekdays can have nice lulls. Music plays four times a week—traditional Irish on Sunday, a jazz trio on Thursday, and contemporary on Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday is reserved for the pub quiz, and all weekend there’s no room for anyone but revelers. They’re a mostly local crowd who recommend the boxtys (an Irish potato pancake…sort of), the fish and chips and—hours later when they’ve gotten hungry again—the black and tan pie (flourless white and black Belgian chocolate filling, butter pecan sugar crust, and whiskey caramel drizzled over).
