Customers here have been known to hunt a reporter down, at least as far as half a block, to expound upon their love for this unassuming old "pub." An incredibly friendly (it’s also the barflies who greet you), and in no way trendy, sports bar of the mostly rugby and soccer sort, it summons expats of the commonwealth at all hours. Good news for non-sports fans: most athletics are easy to avoid because international games often start at 4 a.m. or 6 a.m. (look out, though, for the Steelers’ fans during the American football season). For others, there’s live piano music, DJs, salsa Tuesdays and a recurring pub quiz. Find Guinness, Strong Bow and Blue Moon Belgian on tap; coach lanterns, very mock Tudor details and an iconic red phone booth tarting up the façade. As one particularly smitten patron declared at the corner of Lincoln and Wilson, “It’s the best place you could get yourself.” At least that’s what I think he was slurring.
