Air Conditioned is one of the more wildly ambitious bars you’re likely to find in Los Angeles, mixing a dance club with a live music venue with a (sort of) supper club. It doesn’t completely succeed at all of them – since it’s mostly just bar food – but the fact that you have the option of getting a bite while you listen to great music is certainly appealing, especially when you’re with a large crowd. In fact, Air Conditioned specializes in accommodating big groups, taking advantage of the 3700 square feet available inside. A good part of that space is reserved for the dance floor. One important note, though: because Air Conditioned rotates between DJ-driven music and live local bands, always call ahead to find out what’s on tap for a given night. Also, get there before 10 o’clock if you want to avoid paying the cover.
