About
Located on an actual barge in industrial Wilmington, the Chowder Barge serves a range of inexpensive, basic seafood dishes (breaded, fried shrimp; fish and chips) as well as American standards: burgers, sandwiches, eggs and bacon, chicken dinners and, of course, chowder. The classic deal is the Captain's Burger, a thick, juicy burger served with a side of beer-battered onion rings and a cup of chowder. This place is the best kind of old school hole-in-the-wall, slightly decaying and decorated in a maritime theme. In terms of both food and ambiance, it's well worth the trip.
