About
The Jurupa Mountains Cultural Center is a rock hound's paradise where kids can either start or add to their rock collection. The main building is a gigantic warehouse/store with an incredible array of rocks, minerals, and fossils for display and purchase. The adjacent Earth Science Museum has museum- quality rocks, minerals, fossils and Native American artifacts displayed according to classification. Some exhibit highlights here include a florescent display, which literally highlight rocks with luminescent characteristics; the space exhibit, which includes a moon rock; and the ivory exhibit which has examples of intricately carved scrimshaw.
The center offers outstanding drop in field trips such as "Rock Hunting at the Dinosaurs" -- a short excursion to eight kid-made dinosaurs to collect rocks to take home, and "Kid's Fossil Shack" where kids learn about fossils and take one home.
