About
High-end Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in downtown L.A. If you stood on the corner of 7th and Grand and tossed a quarter into the air, chances are it would land in a $20 plate of veal scaloppini on an outdoor table shaded by a Cinzano umbrella. Zita Trattoria & Bar, located in the ground level courtyard of the towering TCW building, is one such eatery, although it has attempted to set itself apart by specializing in both Northern Italian and French cuisine. Unfortunately, this combination does little to distinguish Zita. The vibe is clean, glassy and modern, with granite facing on the outside and the ubiquitous black and white tile floor inside. The only soul to be found is in the colorful flower boxes hung from the railing of the outdoor dining patio.
