As downtown is infiltrated by the indie scene, Weiland's Brewery remains an enclave of classic rock, frothy beer and killer garlic fries. Located on First Street in Little Tokyo, Weiland's inhabits a 100-year-old brew house complete with beamed ceilings and exposed brick walls, and its brewing tradition continues with a selection of house blondes, ambers and ales. Although lunch and dinner are options, the time to visit is during happy hour, which conveniently occurs twice a day at 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Don’t miss the highly addictive garlic fries ($1.95 during happy hour -- and you can’t get away with just one batch.) On Wednesdays, a live band pumps out blues, country and classic rock hits, while the jukebox inside is always stocked with a tried-and-true mix of ’70s favorites.
