The Counter (Marina Del Rey)

There’s no shortage of great hamburger stands in Los Angeles, but the Counter is westside favorite. Like its Santa Monica cousin, the newly opened Counter in Marina Del Rey (August 2008) will serve you a burger any way you like it, but few burger joints go to the extremes that the Counter does. After all, how many places can offer a turkey burger with gruyere cheese, dried cranberries, roasted red peppers and apricot sauce on an English muffin? The Counter can without even blinking. Its menu offers so many different toppings that you can go every day for the rest of your life and never have the same burger twice (okay, maybe twice). Its sweet potato fries, coupled with a horseradish sauce, are also a major draw and its shakes are so thick you need a spoon to finish one. If the Marina Del Rey outpost is half as popular as the original Santa Monica locale, it will be packed and wildly popular.
