Spanish chef José Andrés works four-star magic at the SLS Hotel, with tapas bars Blanca and Rojo transforming small plates into delicious theater....

Times Description

This highly anticipated restaurant in the SLS Hotel is headed by popular Spanish chef José Andrés. Always charming, Andrés is the life of the party at a soiree in the Hollywood Hills, and guests are circling around him next to the infinity pool. Chef Andrés is scooping caviar onto slices of jamón ibérico (ham from the black-footed pigs of Spain), rolling it up and placing it directly into their mouths.

"I'm feeding you one bite at a time," Andrés tells the small crowd. It's a line he uses often. Who knew he meant it literally?

Andrés, bright-blue-eyed and often dressed in an untucked button-down shirt and khakis or jeans, has, with his restaurants, TV show and cookbooks, helped bring a Spanish culinary revolution to the U.S. in the last 15 years -- and he's busier than ever feeding people. Says Sam Nazarian, the host of the party and chief executive of SBE, the company behind Andrés' coming L.A. restaurant: "I've had a harder time chasing José than chasing women."

"Food 3 Stars, Service 1 Star"

My wife and I dined at The Bazaar for the first time on Saturday night, 7/25/2009, with a 9:30 pm reservation. We arrived early and were directed to the bar. The bartender, Luke, greeted us immediately as we approached the bar, explained the bar menu, and brought us our order...

    "3 stars at best"

I absolutely loved this restaurant. With that being said, this is not a four star restaurant. Perhaps the people of Los Angeles (myself included), want an outstanding place so badly that we are willing to overlook the obvious. The food. It was good, at times great, but, never excellent. Most...

    "Four stars, Really?"

    Posted by miraso on 04/06/2009

First the positive. The food was fantastic. The traditional Tapas were excellent and the more avant garde stuff hit more often than not. Now to the negative. When reading the review in the times, I couldn't believe that I had eaten at the same restaurant. The service was politely incompetent....

    "Totally Bazaar!!"

The Bazaar by José Andrés is described as "a modern-day indoor piazza where guests and locals alike can enjoy pioneering culinary creations and intricately-concocted libations throughout several spaces: Bar Centro, Blanco, Rojo and the Pâtisserie." It sounds a little intimidating I know, but when you walk in the front door...

So, I struggled with this review because the food is clearly deserving of 5 stars, with no hesitation, but the server we had was so extraordinarily bad that...
