Times Description

Attention Arclight addicts, we have found your new pre-movie meeting place, and it’s even closer to the Arclight than Magnolia or the Hungry Cat. This restaurant, open sice December of 2008, is hard to find.

Hidden inside the new retail mall Space 15Twenty on Cahuenga Blvd., pedestrians who walk by the complex (which takes up half a block between Ivar Ave. and Cahuenga Ave right off of Sunset Blvd.) may not realize eating options wait within; as the outside gives the impression that the exposed-brick-laden building only houses an Urban Outfitters, the anchor tenant of Space 15Twenty.

But Snackbar is worth finding, with inviting exposed brick and large glass windows looking out onto a courtyard.

Jonathan Makar, the Philadelphia-based owner of the restaurant, says Urban Outfitters executives tapped him to open a L.A. offshoot of his popular café-style spot after eating at his Rittenhouse Square restaurant several times.

So what’s on the menu at Snackbar?  Snacks that eat like a meal, naturally. Think burgers, a large salad Chevre, plenty of grilled and pressed sandwiches and even smoked salmon tramezzini.

Makar says Snackbar will likely have a liquor license in early 2009, so expect the sno-cones on the menu to have a little extra kick in 2009 (yes they plan to offer blueberry vodka sno-cones).

Nothing on the menu is over $14, with most items in the $8 to $12 range.  Sides and snacks (such as malt-vinegar French-fried potatoes at $4 or peanut butter & chocolate tramezzini at $4.75) go for much less.

Did you know? You can share lists of your favorite places and events. Include Snackbar in your list and it will be added to this page.

I dunno, i went here and had a fine experience. Don't go expecting much, but I thought my sandich was pretty good. I give it a solid "B" if you just want something simple.

Food was slow and not worth the wait. Definitely overpriced. Staff was unattentive. This restaurant should have just stayed in Philly!!!!!

    "Horrible Food!"

This restaurant is overrated. Bad service and bad food. Save your money and go elsewhere. It took them 40 minutes to bring me my $14 tasteless sandwich.
