Chugga, chugga, chew, chew! Yes, as the name implies, this is a restaurant built inside of a historic Pullman train car. What cannot be guessed from the name, however, is that this restaurant is well-known for the chef's love of all things fresh, local and organic. Many ingredients used in the entrees are culled from area farmers and farmer's markets. This, in itself, is great. Add to that creative theme nights, including burger and martini night (Thursday) and grilled cheese and jazz night (Tuesday) and Sidecar transforms into a genuine American bistro phenomenon. High-brow sensibilities (carrot risotto) are married to low-brow satisfaction (iceberg lettuce wedge salad) throughout the all-American menu. Then there's the amazing "Look, Ma, I'm eating dinner in a converted train car" factor. The only downside is the slightly musty-carpet feeling inside the place. Oh, well. Must be one too many spilled (what else?) sidecars.
