Schooner or Later is a breakfast- and lunch-only eatery with lots of outside table room. This popular weekend brunch spot is located just east of the Rusty Pelican on the Alamitos Bay marina. To get a seat quicker during the rush, ask for the community table in the middle of the patio. Everyone enjoys it, and who knows, you might bump elbows with a local judge or a professional athlete. A popular dish on the menu is "The Mess": scrambled eggs cooked with everything and topped with cheese. (This one's a real belly buster.) Afterward, walk off your meal by strolling along the marina paths. Parking is offered in the adjacent lot. -- Collette Anderson
