Times Description

Glendale is becoming a bit of a foodie destination. First there was Bashan and now Palate Food + Wine. Located on the ground floor of the 1928 seven-story Bekins moving depot, Palate is many things to many people: a restaurant, a wine vendor, a cheese store, a tasting bar and lounge and a "gastronomic library," with more than 200 titles including cookbooks, food history books and books on wine, cheese and coffee.

Chef/owner Octavio Becerra has created a nuanced menu of Mediterranean flavors using locally sourced ingredients. Wine director Steve Goldun has overseen the acquisition of a spectacular selection of fine and hand-crafted wines from around the world and a knowledgeable staff is expert at helping you pair a bottle with your meal or put together a tasting flight at the tasting bar. The cheese cellar rounds off the impressive offerings with more than 50 high-quality cheeses.

    "Food & Wine Heaven"

What a surprise find in a city known for poor & overpriced wine lists. One of the most intelligent & fairly priced wine lists I have ever seen anywhere. The wine service was also impeccable with the wine being served at the right tempature in quality stemware. The food is...

Tried Palate a second time, just to make sure...it actually seemed worse than the first! The food was inconsistent, very pricey for small portions, and...
