Locals saunter in with tiny dogs and flip flops, hungry for epically-proportioned breakfasts and reasonable prices. Chef Richard Kitos opened this café last October, but his omelets have been famous for years. Light as meringue and filled with fresh bits like sweet corn, tomato, and crisp bacon, they pair well with the fluffy cappuccinos. Of course, that’s only if you forego the giant pancakes or meandering white chocolate raspberry scones (don’t make Leo the baker sad). During the winter, the café—housed, not surprisingly, in an 1800s, three-story, Victorian mansion—is only open weekends. Dinners are served Thursday nights, when the top floor library becomes a jazzy speakeasy, complete with national touring acts and a more intimate side lounge stuffed with plush couches.
