At the intersection where Cesar Chavez Ave. becomes Riggin St., sits the Monterey Park outpost of this venerable local chain known for its delectable pastrami sandwiches. The perfectly seasoned, thinly sliced pastrami is heavenly. The chili cheese fries are a ridiculously rich mound of gooey brown glory atop golden fries. The Hat also offers burgers and other sandwiches (tuna, chicken salad, ham & cheese), but why bother when the pastrami is this good?

on 12/22/07We always eat there when nearby. Just wish one was closer. The pastrami and fries are so good, we have yet to order anything else.

You can't get better pastrami than the hat! I love their juicy sandwiches piled high with perfectly cured and cooked, thinly sliced meat.
