Family-run Taix (say “Tex”) is as old-school as a one-room school house. Third-generation owner Mike Taix manages to retain the 1920s charm of the popular, labyrinth-like wicker-and-wire French eatery while reeling in an open-mic-friendly hipster coterie. The draft Taix lager is cheap and delicious, while the Monday night filet mignon special accompanied by a tureen of minestrone soup, all-you-can-eat carrots and celery and a fill-‘em-up basket of bread keep discerning gluttons coming back for more.
