Slow Fish

“Don’t eat fast. Eat slow. Eat right.” The tagline for Slow Fish reflects its owner’s devotion to the slow food concept. The decades-old movement against fast food began in Italy and has spread around the world. John Lee hopes that diners at his intimate, 10-table restaurant will take time to savor and ponder the healthy Cal-Korean dishes he serves. Popular entrees include marinated beef ribs and the spicy “dancing porky.” For starters, consider the “famous fat avo,” a ball of seasoned albacore wrapped in thin avocado slices. As an alternative to white rice, try your favorite sushi with rare, nutrient-dense black rice, which can also be ordered as a side dish. With so many unusual items on the menu, you won’t mind the drive to a desolate strip mall bordering the Bolsa Chica wetlands preserve.
