Late-night choices in Los Angeles usually come down to Mexican or Thai, and if you've ever chosen the latter, you've probably run across Sanamluang Cafe, which makes remarkably good food for such a small, inexpensive strip mall restaurant. The curries are tasty, the noodles dishes are authentic, and the prices are right. A personal favorite is the huge bowl of delicious tom kha kai, which can be yours for a trifle, well into the wee hours of the night. All of the rice dishes are solid as are the chicken skewers and fried tofu cubes, but the real treat here are the giant bowls of noodle soup, none of which cost more than $7. The Yen-Ta-Fao, a hot and sour broth with all sorts of fishy treats, and the roasted duck noodle soup, adorned with chunks of barbecued duck, are perennial favorites.
