Oiwake

Oiwake is a karaoke fiend’s dream. Nestled inside the quaint Japanese Village Plaza Mall in Little Tokyo, the cavernous bar and restaurant boasts a full bar and menu and a nightly karaoke extravaganza that provides amateur chanteurs and chanteuses with a selection of over 8,000 songs. The atmospheric venue features seating for 150 in the Japanese-themed dining room and can accommodate parties of two to 100. A banquet room is available for private events, but the group fun to be had in the main dining room is hard to beat. Starting at 5 p.m. every night except Monday, the mikes are turned on and the 100” tall projection screen at the front of the room lights up. Patrons take turns warbling their favorite hits – available with English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese or Filipino lyrics – in front of the entire restaurant. The food selection includes all manner of sashimi, tempura, teriyaki and noodles, although the Japanese-style dinner is the best deal in the house.
