Millie's Restaurant

Millie's is a Silver Lake breakfast and brunch institution. It's located in an aged brick storefront with plenty of outdoor seating and a tiny indoor counter for couples or those dining solo. Band fliers make peering through the large front window nearly impossible and most of the scruffy-looking young rockers that lounge at the tables are seriously hung over. The food is filling and breakfast-heavy. A variety of creative scrambles, including the famous "Devil's Mess" (sour cream, guacamole, melted cheese), are served with crispy rosemary potatoes and pancakes are thick and fluffy. Service is rushed and sometimes a bit distracted but that's ok since lingering over your meal with friends is encouraged.

TIPS: Millie's has drawn its fare share of struggling artists made good. Most notably Francis Conroy of "Six Feet Under" fame who was once a waitress here. For a less trendy scene head down the street to Madame Matisse. Do not park in the strip mall lot next door or you WILL get towed. It has happened to us.
