Ketchy's II

Until 1986 when a car plowed into the corner of Sawtelle and La Grange, Ketchie's was a popular local burger joint known for its hamburger-taco. More recently, a new owner has tried to revive the legend, opening Ketchy's II half a block away from the original restaurant. Their signature offering is Ketchy's "World Famous Taco," an egregiously hyperbolic description for this limp, greasy hamburger patty tucked into a corn tortilla and dressed with iceberg lettuce, Del Taco-quality cheese and hot sauce. Ketchy's tacos, despite their supposed fame, are utterly forgettable (any halfway decent taco truck would put this place to shame). But the rest of the menu is an improvement. At $7.45, the chicken teriyaki combo tastes good and is a great deal. You get a heaping portion of high quality teriyaki chicken, plenty of rice, an extra container of teriyaki sauce, a sizable salad with a mild but lovely pepper-and-oil dressing and a soda. Ketchy's offers low prices and if you order one of their daily specials, it's an even better deal.
