Jerry's Famous Deli

The encyclopedic menu at this popular chain can make deciding what to order difficult, but you’re always safe with corned beef on rye and a bowl of matzo ball soup. With offerings this broad—ranging from Mexican platters to baby back ribs to pizza to knockwurst—it’s hard to make everything exceptional. But what Jerry’s lacks in excellence it makes up for in generosity and enthusiasm. Portions are “Sky High!”, as their menu emphasizes with exclamation. Red booths are as oversized as triple-decker sandwiches, while the black and white floors take a design note from the bakery’s black and white cookies. The place buzzes with celebrity sightings, late-night hipsters (many are open 24 hours – this one is), and spillover from the adjoining bowling alley, Pinz (where the full menu is available).  Dining at Jerry’s can be a new experience every time. You never know who you’ll see—or what you’ll order.
