About
Hop Li Seafood may not be much to look at on the outside, but the extensive menu more than makes up for the lack of atmosphere. Tucked away on Alpine Street, blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown proper, Hop Li is located in the bottom half of a strip mall, next door to a Water Plus Market. Inside, plastic flowers, salmon-colored carpet and fluorescent lighting define the sprawling space, which contains two oblong dining rooms with seating for around 100. Chow mein, beef, pork and poultry dishes are available for traditional palates but the house specialties are the seafood options. Squid, clams, oysters, shrimp, abalone, scallops and lobster round out the menu. Customer favorites include the steamed oysters in black bean sauce, the shrimp with spicy tangerine sauce and of course the stir fried lobster with ginger and green onion sauce.
