Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop

In a weight-obsessed town like L.A. you'd think there would be more salad-oriented places like Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop. With an open kitchen full of seasonal fresh veggies, flame-grilled meats and icy beverages, this restaurant specializes in made-to-order salads.  For $7.95 you can build your own salad by selecting your greens, up to five toppings (additional toppings cost extra), a dressing and, if you wish, a protein (priced separately). Once you've done that you can watch the whole thing get tossed right in front of you. If you're not in the mood to make decisions the menu has a variety of creative choices like the Mexplosion with barbecue shrimp and lemon-lime vinaigrette, the Lemongrass chicken (self explanatory) and the Antioxidant Orchard, which is piled with grapes, apples, celery, candied walnuts and fresh figs. A selection of wraps are also available and are served "like tacos" on fresh Bibb lettuce.
