About
The leaf motif at Green Street Restaurant—in the wall murals, in the sage green carpet, and in the fabric of the booths—tells diners that its mission is to stay close to nature and the seasons. The seasonal, locally sourced American menu changes every two weeks, although certain specialties are evergreen. The Dianne salad—essentially an Asian chicken salad tossed with their famous Dianne dressing (which is for sale)—and the zucchini bread (also for sale) are by far the most sought after items. Hearty breakfasts include eggs served just about every imaginable way. Lunch brings a large array of leafy green salads, sandwiches, and quesadillas, while dinner entrees are built around charbroiled chicken, steak, and salmon. Business casual at lunch, the restaurant skews romantic in the evening with dim lights. But the best seats are on the ample patio, where you can eat your greens among the greenery. The restaurant is a little tricky to find since it’s not actually on Green Street; instead, it’s on Shoppers Lane, tucked behind the Lake Street commercial district, right next to Radhika’s. And don’t confuse Green Street Restaurant with Old Town newcomer Green Street Tavern, which also serves a seasonal American menu and is, in fact, on Green Street.
TIPS: Try parking in the free lot across Cordova Ave. The full menu is served at the bar—a good option when there’s a wait, as there often is on weekends.
