Founded in 1988 and reputedly the oldest eatery on the Promenade, Stop’n Café serves a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, pasta and typically American breakfast items, but specializes in traditional Greek and Persian cuisine. The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean focus begins with the list of appetizers—ranging from the $4.99 hummus or babaghanoush plate to the $23 Greek sampler—and ends with an entree menu replete with chicken, beef or lamb kebobs, and a falafel plate with a Greek salad, each of which will set you back $13 to $15 at lunch or $18 to $19 at dinner. There are no alcoholic beverages for sale, but customers are welcome to bring their own. Local delivery is free with a minimum $15 order, but the atmosphere at the restaurant is quite nice: Framed black-and-white portraits of the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age and Restoration Hardware-type furnishings dangling above dark-wood-paneling give the long, rectangular dining room an upscale, old-timey vibe.
