For over 20 years this small, stylish restaurant on Hillhurst Ave. has served up Italian standards in a charming, warm and garlic-infused setting. The star attractions are the consummately fresh and delicious pastas, with the gnocchi, pumpkin ravioli and bowtie pasta with peas and salmon deserving of special mentions. Still many would undoubtedly be happy to fill up on the homemade bread and sun-dried tomato sauce alone. If you like pizza, Farfalla’s thin-crust version has rabid fans.
TIPS: Proprietor John Borghetti, who also owns neighboring Tropicalia and Vinoteca, knows his wine, so the selection is large and varied. Perfect for a date or a small group, it’s always bustling, which means you can be assured of a wait on the weekend. Prices are reasonable too, with a dinner for two (without alcohol) coming in around $40.
