About
The recently remodeled Equator has shed its coffeehouse grunge feel, opting for a slick Asian-inspired interior that, according to their website, “caters to successful and confident professionals as well as the exaggeratingly beautiful.” We’re not sure where all the un-confident, marginally beautiful people will now turn, but the attractive and self-assured will surely enjoy reclining on Equator’s red silk banquettes and sampling from the Asian fusion menu. Signature dishes include curry pineapple fried rice and sesame encrusted salmon, as well as small bites like beef filet wrapped with enoki mushroom. On Saturdays and Sundays, there’s a full-service dim sum brunch. Bagels and muffins can still be had at the coffee bar, which serves coffee drinks like the Cocomo (espresso, chocolate, coconut, and steamed milk) and a wide selection of loose leaf teas. You can no longer come to plug in your laptop, but—all you grungy holdovers—you can still take a drag on a hookah.
