El Caserio radiates South American charm on a bit of unlikely real estate just off the 101 freeway in Silver Lake. A lush, enclosed brick patio shaded by a majestic Japanese elm tree wrapped in twinkling lights and the handsome dining room, with its intimate bar and polished wooden floors, feel hidden from the world. Opened in 2007 as a sister restaurant to the 25-year-old El Caserio on Virgil, this otherworldly eatery offers Ecuadorian and Italian fusion fare. House specialties include salmon in a baby dill sauce with cheese-filled potato pancakes and ceviche de mar with avocado and red potatoes.
TIPS: Despite it's Silver Lake Blvd. address El Caserio's entrance is off a little dead end street just behind the restaurant. Free parking is also in a lot just off this street.
