The Venice Boardwalk isn’t exactly the locus of haute cuisine in Los Angeles, but Danny’s is one of the more refined delis in town. Situated in a cavernous space at the end of Windward Avenue, Danny’s serves traditional deli fare (pastrami, corned beef, motzah ball soup) along with standard beach grub for the kids (burgers, hot dogs). Unlike most delis, Danny’s also features a generous selection of wine and beer, and even has a full bar upfront. A massive mural covers the walls of the main dining room, depicting the various denizens of Venice who have contributed to the neighborhood’s unique culture. For a $50 charitable donation, you can even have your own caricature drawn and added to the growing mural in the front room. Parking is available in the lot right next door, but a metered space can usually be snagged during the week.
