Even among the myriad Chinese restaurants in Monterey Park, Chung King is the gold standard for Sichuan cuisine, serving dishes that are as authentic as you’re likely to find outside of China. The restaurant’s specialty, fried chicken cubes that arrive amidst a mound of red pepper shells, is so spicy it will literally make your mouth go numb. Other favorites include the dry fried beef and the pigs’ ears. The food here is hot, hot, hot -- definitely not for the faint of stomach!
